“God snapped the rope!”
The decision on whether or not to cancel UNASHAMED Levin hung heavy on our hearts - due to restrictions we were limited in how many people we could have in the venue, there were some nerves surrounding covid-19 from some of the churches and most of our team were in lockdown in the Waikato. If we were to pull this off we'd need to get creative! After much prayer and connecting with the church leaders we felt to go ahead, time is short and youth need Jesus now more than ever!
We rang around and connected with some up and coming artists and creatives who love Jesus and who were keen to help see young people come to know Him - these connections will prove so valuable into the future as we seek to reach more young people. Then we needed sound and lighting equipment and the tech team to make it all work and run it - God provided!
Due to restrictions we ran two outreach gatherings back to back. Seeing precious young people under the conviction of God, making a stand and placing their trust in Jesus was BEAUTIFUL!
One young boy had attempted to end his life when the rope snapped - he told us that he never really believed in God but when he hit the ground he knew that God had snapped the rope. He biked an hour to be at the event after seeing a promotion on Facebook and that night he put his trust in Jesus!!
Another young man was able to shoot home after the event to tell his Mum (who had only recently became a Christian) the good news that he’d made a commitment to Christ and suddenly had a new found desire to study the bible. One pastor messaged me to tell me four families in his church have young people who committed their lives to Christ that night! Generally we only hear about a fraction of the fruit!
The only appropriate response is to thank Jesus - it was Him and we just get the opportunity to tag along and get involved in what HE’S doing! He’s just looking for people who are willing, available and obedient even when it's hard.
So thank you Yahweh for doing what you do and allowing us to be a part of that!
